2026–2027 Season
Fall Practice Schedule
Afterschool practice begins on September 14th and will run Monday through Thursday from 3:00–5:00 p.m.
As the season approaches, we will adjust the practice schedule as needed to ensure our athletes are fully prepared. The official competition season begins on November 9th.

Coaching Staff
2026–2027 Season
AJ Lyczkowski
Head Coach
A Pennsylvania native, Coach Lyczkowski compiled a 102–33 record at Methacton High School — including 65 pins and the program's fastest pin in history at just 5 seconds.
A 3-time sectional champion, 2-time district placer, 1-time regional champion, and PA AAA State Tournament qualifier, he earned a Division I scholarship to the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, where he was a 4-year letterman (46–28 collegiate record), two-time Southern Conference Championships third-place finisher, and earned his B.A. in Sociology.
After helping four freshmen and sophomores qualify for regionals in back-to-back seasons at Olney High School in Philadelphia, he now serves as a Special Education teacher and Head Wrestling Coach at The Woodlands High School.

Chuck Leierer
Assistant Coach
With 26 seasons of athletic leadership across the collegiate (NAIA, D-II, D-III) and Texas 6A High School levels, Coach Leierer brings a deep, multi-sport championship background to the Highlander wrestling program.
Since joining The Woodlands High School staff in 2021, he has played an integral role in fostering a dominant wrestling culture, helping mentor a 3x Girls 6A State Champion (2023–2025) as well as two additional State Champions/Runners-Up in 2026.
His impact on the mat was recognized in 2023 when he was named the District 8-6A Assistant Wrestling Coach of the Year.
In addition to his coaching duties, he teaches Honors World History at TWHS. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from Hastings College, a Master of Science in Kinesiology from the University of North Dakota, and is currently pursuing his Principal Certification through Lamar University.
Off the mat, Coach has been happily married to his wife, Melissa, for 28 years. They have two children: Christian, who serves as a football coach and the Head Wrestling Coach at Vernon High School, and Hannah, who plays college softball at Belmont University.

My name is Coach Potter and I have 14 years of competitive and coaching experience.
I was a State Qualifier, District Most Outstanding Wrestler, 2x District All-Academic Team and 1st Team All-District.
In addition to coaching, I teach US History at TWHS.
I am very excited to be a Highlander!

🏥A current sports physical on file with the TWHS Athletics office is required before the first practice.
📝All UIL participation forms must be signed by a parent or guardian prior to participation.
⚖️Wrestlers must make weight on the day of each competition per UIL weight management rules.
👕Proper practice attire required: wrestling shoes, singlets, shorts, spandex, joggers, sweatpants, and a fitted shirt or compression top.
